Oklahoma Natural Gas Offers $850 Rebate for Water Heater Upgrades

Oklahoma Natural Gas has offered a rebate program for homeowners who convert from an electric water heater to a natural gas water heater. At the time of this writing, the rebate was $850 for qualifying installations. For a Bixby homeowner replacing an old electric water heater, this rebate makes the switch to gas significantly more attractive from a cost standpoint.
Natural gas water heaters heat water faster than electric models and typically have lower operating costs when natural gas rates are favorable compared to electricity. A 50-gallon gas water heater can recover from an empty tank faster than an equivalent electric unit, which matters in households that use a lot of hot water. The upfront cost of a gas unit plus installation is higher, but the ONG rebate helps close that gap. If your home already has a gas line to the water heater location, the conversion is straightforward. If it does not, Will can run a gas line as part of the installation.
To take advantage of the rebate at the time it was active, homeowners needed to use a licensed Oklahoma contractor for the installation, which is where Will Rogers Plumbing comes in. Will handles water heater installation throughout Bixby, Jenks, and the surrounding area. Even if the rebate amount or availability has changed since this post was published, converting from electric to gas for your water heater is often still worth evaluating on its own merits. Call Will at (918) 402-4340 and he can walk you through the current options.
